To our clients, partners, and communities across Jamaica and the Caribbean,

As Jamaica begins the road to recovery following Hurricane Melissa, we want to provide a clear update on our operations, the island’s current condition, and how Irie Mobility Jamaica is responding with compassion, flexibility, and resilience.

🌀 Current Situation in Jamaica

Hurricane Melissa has caused widespread damage across multiple parishes, affecting homes, infrastructure, and essential services.

  • Airports: All major airports across Jamaica — including Sangster International (MBJ), Norman Manley International (KIN), and Ian Fleming International (OCJ) are currently being assessed for reopening by the end of this week.

American Airlines has announced relief flights from Miami (MIA) to Kingston (KIN) to assist in transporting aid and helping travelers stranded on the island.

  • Hardest-Hit Areas: The parishes of St. Elizabeth, Trelawny, Westmoreland (Negril), St. James (Montego Bay), and St. Ann (Ocho Rios) have been among the most severely affected, with reports of flooding, roof damage, and extended power outages.

  • Infrastructure: Major damage has been sustained to electrical lines, hospitals, and government buildings, leaving many communities without electricity, food, and clean water.

  • Our Team: Some members of our team have experienced significant home and property damage, and we are doing our best to support them as recovery and restoration efforts begins.

🚫 Temporary Halt in Operations

For the safety of our staff, clients, and partners, all Irie Mobility Jamaica operations remain paused until it is safe to resume and properties have made full restorations to begin offering accommodations for travelers looking to visit Jamaica.

  • Clients with reservations over the next few weeks are encouraged to stay in contact and look out for direct communication from our team regarding rescheduling or cancellation options.

  • No deliveries or pickups will take place until safe conditions are confirmed for both clients and staff.

  • We will continue to monitor recovery progress and will share updates via our website, social media, and email channels once operations can restart.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

💚 Irie Relief Fund

In response to the hardships faced by the entire country, we have launched the Irie Relief Fund which is a small, internal initiative focused on providing direct assistance to our employees, partners and their families alike.

While we are not able to provide the assistance we wish we could, we are using our available resources to:

  • Offer basic supplies (food, water, hygiene essentials) to team members and their families in need.

  • Provide limited financial support for urgent home repairs and temporary shelter for team members and their families.

  • Connect affected individuals within the wider community with verified local relief organizations for additional aid.

We recognize our resources are limited, but we are committed to doing what we can to help those around us.

If any of our clients, partners, or friends wish to assist, we are open to receiving donations that will go directly toward short-term relief and recovery support for our team members and the wider local communities. Please contact relief@iriemobility.com for details on how to contribute.

🤝 Our Commitment Going Forward

  • We will resume operations only when it is safe and responsible to do so as we are dependent on the wider tourism sector to restore operations.

  • All affected clients will receive personalized communication regarding reservation adjustments.

  • Our focus remains on supporting our team, our clients, and our country as we rebuild, one day at a time.

🌴 Together, We’ll Rebuild Stronger

Hurricane Melissa has challenged Jamaica’s strength, but it has not broken our spirits. All across the island, we stand with every individual and business working to restore normalcy.

To our international clients and partners, we express our thanks for your compassion, patience, kind words, prayers and trust and to our fellow Jamaicans, we’re with you.

With gratitude and unity,

💚 The Irie Mobility Jamaica Team
